Dixie Gammage Hall

Dixie Gammage Hall

Here is a nice large vase in the shade by a little path that leads to some chairs.

The building itself is not the most attractive on campus, but the interesting detail about this building is not what is on the outside but what is on the inside. Literally. There is a secret, hidden garden inside of the walls of this building. After emerging from the short tunnel, the beauty hits us with nothing people have ever seen before. There are many plants, trees, and flowers in this secret garden. There are a few tables and benches for people to sit. People can also just sit on the grass and bask in the sun while doing work. There are few features in this garden that I find fascinating. On one side of the garden there is a large dark blue vase that seems so out of place, but at the same time compliments the rest of the garden.

Here is a person lazing around in the grass.
Another feature to this garden is that there is a fireplace. Normally, in Arizona it is just for decoration because it is always hot here, but the fact that there is one here makes this garden feel a lot cozier to just sit back and relax. The fireplace is on the far wall that has white steps leading to the fireplace. These steps also allow for people to sit and go about their business. There are also window that surround the garden and allow for people that work in this building to have a beautiful view. If nature, shade, and the feeling of serenity is what are to be aspired, then this is the place to come and relax.

This place has all the qualities that make this a grand attraction. Although it is called a secret garden, everyone knows about it and come here to study, socialize, and relax. Not only is it pleasing to the eyes, but it is a great place to visit and feel a closer connection to nature.

Coor Building

This is an image as you are walking down the steps
to get to the lower level of the Coor Building.
This is a building of glass and symbols. At first glance, the Coor Building would look special on its own because of the architecture. It has a blue hint to each window and that makes it stand out from the rest of the building surrounding it. But what people don't know is that there are mini gardens within the building complex. At first it looks like it is going to be more cacti and bushes, but as people head further inside this labyrinth of halls and concrete, pockets of bamboo are embedded in the walls. This is the area that interests me the most because here people can hang out above ground, do homework above or below ground, and have shade.

 one of the pockets.
This place provides a great environment for anything and allow for people to work without many distractions. It is usually quiet down there and the bamboo usually sways because they are so tall. Leaning against one of the pockets by the bamboo is very therapeutic because of its calming aspect. Bamboo is not native to Arizona and being able to see it here is fascinating. They are below ground because the sun will cause harm to them. Not only is this building great for people, but for the plants in it. This is a great place to come and study, but not so much for socializing. Coming here will definitely be a great place to show people though.

This is a walkway that leads to the Student Services Building.
It is filled with trees and bushes.

This is a side view of a few trees and bushes
that are providing shade and beauty.

People go to the Student Services Building to get help about many things that pertain to school. It is a big building and has a lot of wide, large, and open windows for people to see the plants and trees that surround the building. The garden in front and around this building has the best environment, soothing feel, and therapeutic attraction. People are constantly coming and going from this building and it would make sense that there would be a soothing garden surrounding it. Many people can get a lot of work done here and still have a lovely scenery in front of them.

There are two different ways to enjoy the garden: inside on very comfy couches or benches and tables outside. Both are ideal ways of encountering the garden. But the best choice is to be outside and getting the chance to smell the aromas that the plants exude.

There are different kinds of trees that are as tall or close to the size of the building and they also have bushes that go alongside the side walk to the building. Not only are these plants here, but there are also herb gardens that are maintained by students and faculty. Not only is it beautiful to look at, but the fact that these very green plants are here show that a lot of people put in a lot of hard work to keep it the way it is. Most of the plants on campus are not native to Arizona, but since there are people willing to work for beauty, other people are now able to enjoy it as well.

This place provides a lot of shade, inside and outside. This soothing garden has creatures that reside in the vegetation here. Birds and other little critters like to stay here because it provides them with open land for them to roam and because of all the maintenance the plants get, the animals feel more comfortable coming near people and that is something that is calming and therapeutic.
